Primavera Systems, Inc, which was founded in May 1983[2], was a private company based in Pennsylvania(USA) which develops best of breed software solutions for the Project Portfolio Management market [3]. On January 1, 2009 Oracle Corporation took legal ownership of Primavera.

Primavera has been called one of the technology leaders in the Project Portfolio Management market by a recent research document created by Forrester[4]. With more than 450.000 users in more than 60.000 companies it has been stated to be the current global market leader by market share, mainly due to its recent acquisition of Pertmaster and Prosight in December 2006[5][6][Verification needed]

Primavera Project Manager is a critical path method (CPM) scheduling tool. This tool is often referred to as Primavera P3/5/6 depending on version and is used by many construction companies.

On October 8, 2008, Oracle Corporation announced it has entered into an agreement to acquire Primavera. Before the deal closed, each company operated independently.[7]
